“The Long Road to Nowhere”

Anthony Iovino

11-22-12

In America today we want God’s blessings without repentance.

Our great nation is at a crossroads. A line has been drawn in the sand.

Who are we going to serve….God or Man.?

The Long Road to Nowhere….

There are 613 Jewish Laws

Rabbi Simlai in the 3rd century noted that Moses gave 365 Prohibitions and 248 positive commands.

1-trying to keep these is futile

2-though Israel had a zeal for God

3-this zeal was not based on knowledge. They missed the meaning.

4-they tried to establish their own righteousness.

5-they missed God’s righteousness.

-In Psalm 15 King David reduced them to 11.

-Isaiah reduced them to 6. (Isaiah 33:14-15)

-Micah binds them into 3. (Micah 6:8).

Habakkuk reduces them to 1. “The just shall live by faith”.

This is what Paul is referring to in Ephesians 2:8-10.

-the enemies of God are seeking to destroy God’s people.

Ezra 5:12-

“but because our fathers angered the God of heaven, he handed them over to Nebuchadnezzar the Chaldean king of Babylon, who destroyed this temple and deported the people to Babylon.”

We need to stop WORKING (law). And depend on God’s GRACE.

Works says, “do,do,do”  Grace says, “Done”

-As Christians even we fall back on works in order to be better people.

-It is not in our strength or power but in the power of Christ and the Grace, Mercy and Peace He offers us.

– we must let His grace flood over us and do nothing in our own strength.

-God’s grace is sufficient.

Jesus told his disciples at the Last Supper- John  15:5

“I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

So let us pray that our country can get back to its Godly Christian Heritage by repenting of our waywardness and let us pray that we as individuals Christian Soldiers can keep our focus on Christ and draw upon His Strength through the Holy Spirit.

Let us pray…….
