Main Scripture- Matthew 5:8-

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

  • To be      “Blessed” has nothing to do with our circumstances.
  • The Beatitudes      are descriptions not directions.
  • Blessed- Deep      inner joy.

“YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH”

MATTHEW 5:13

Scripture References for further study:

Matthew 5:13
Job 6:6
Genesis 1:1
Genesis 19:26
Luke 17:32
2 Kings 2:19-22
Colossians 4:6

Our Lord Jesus makes the following statement while addressing the crowds during His beloved Sermon on the Mount:

“You are the salt of the earth.  But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?  It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled by men”.

(Matthew Chapter 5 verse 13).

I have read and studied “ The Sermon On The Mount” many times, and each time I  read it  the Lord gives me new insight and a greater understanding of just how powerful and convicting His words can be.  I was curious as to why Jesus referenced “salt” in His sermon, and what exactly was He trying to say to the people 2,000 years ago. I researched salt  and discovered many amazing facts. I also found several Bible passages referencing  to salt.  In doing so, I now understand why Jesus tells Believers, “They are the salt of the earth”. (more…)

Church is all right, but a person can’t do everything, you know.” (more…)

Tolstoy’s Changed Desire

In my conversation, Count Leo Tolstoy, the eminent Russian writer, tells how he turned from evil to good: “Five years ago faith came to me: I believed in the doctrine of Jesus, and all my life was suddenly changed. I cease to desire that which previously I had desired, and on the other hand, I took to desiring what I had never desired before. That which formerly used to appear good in my eyes appeared evil, and that which used to appear evil appeared good.” (more…)

Titus 2:11-15

11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

Recently while watching a famous pastor on Christian television speak about God’s Grace, a sentence he spoke sparked something in me to write this devotional.  He said the following to his interviewer: (more…)
