So You Think You Have Won?

Jeremiah 30:23-24

“See, the storm of the Lord will burst out in wrath, a driving wind swirling down on the heads of the wicked.  The fierce anger of the Lord will not turn back until he fully accomplishes the purposes of his heart.  In the days to come you will understand this.”

God’s wrath is depicted as a storm, a driving wind coming down from above.  Similar to that of a tornado that forms in the clouds and then appears out of nowhere.  Once the tornado gains enough energy and force, it swirls down in fury.  That is what it will be like for the wicked, only this storm will not stop.  It will continue until the Lord accomplishes the purposes of His heart.  Until His plan is complete.  The wicked may think they are in control; their arrogance gets the best of them.  The wicked may feel invincible and walk in confidence, thinking nothing can stand in their way.  When the storm of the Lord bursts out in wrath, the wicked will be no more.  They are destined for destruction.  On that day, the wicked will quickly find out who is really in control and who is ruler of the universe.

For those who obey the Lord, the word says:

Jeremiah 30:11

“I am with you and will save you; declares the Lord.  Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you.”

All God’s people will be saved from the “storm of the Lord.”  Though we may be scattered, we will ultimately be saved by God’s grace, mercy and love through Jesus Christ!

Jeremiah 30:21

“Their leader will be one of their own; their ruler will arise from among them.  I will bring him near and he will come close to me, for who is he who will devote himself to be close to me?  Declares the Lord.”
